2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: Price Rises With Performance Boost

The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid will start at $44,990 – a $2,845 increase over the 2025 model. This price jump is paired with substantial upgrades to the vehicle’s hybrid system, promising increased electric range and notably higher power output.

Key Improvements: Power and Range

The core of the update is a larger 23-kWh battery, a 15% increase over the previous generation. This translates into an estimated 45 miles of all-electric driving, reducing reliance on the gasoline engine for shorter commutes. More critically, the revised powertrain now delivers 297 horsepower, up from 248. This improvement is supported by an enhanced battery cooling system that allows for sustained high-performance operation.

Design and Interior Updates

The 2026 Outlander PHEV also incorporates styling changes previously applied to the standard (non-hybrid) 2025 model. These include a redesigned front grille, updated headlights and taillights, and new wheel options. Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with a new center console layout, improved storage solutions, and a relocated wireless charging pad for better accessibility. A Yamaha sound system is now standard.

Pricing for Higher Trims Still Undisclosed

Mitsubishi has not yet released pricing for the SE, SEL, or new Black Edition trims. The full pricing structure will be announced closer to the vehicle’s release in May. The automaker has kept this information close to vest, likely to drive demand and encourage early adopters.

The increase in price is justified by the significant improvements in performance and efficiency. Mitsubishi is betting that the added value will attract buyers despite the higher sticker price.
