BYD Set to Export One Million Vehicles in 2025: A Rapid Rise in Global Markets

BYD is on track to export over one million vehicles in 2025, marking a substantial milestone for the Chinese automaker. November 2025 data reveals a dramatic surge in overseas shipments, with 128,067 units exported – a 313.4% year-over-year increase, and nearly 60% higher than the previous month.

Exponential Growth in Export Volumes

Between January and November 2025, BYD has already shipped 878,498 vehicles abroad, more than doubling its full-year export total from 2024. This places BYD firmly in the second position among Chinese vehicle exporters, closely trailing Chery, which shipped 135,190 units in November. The gap between the two is shrinking rapidly.

This growth isn’t just about numbers: it reflects a broader shift in the auto industry. BYD is uniquely positioned as a pure-play new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, while Chery still relies heavily on traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. As global demand for EVs rises, BYD’s focus gives it a clear advantage.

Dominating Key Markets

BYD doesn’t just export cars – it dominates sales charts in multiple regions. In November, the company led NEV sales in Brazil, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and Croatia, and topped overall brand sales in Singapore. Across the first eleven months of the year, BYD maintained leadership in NEV sales in Brazil, Turkey, Spain, and Italy, and in overall brand sales in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Surpassing Tesla in Key Regions

BYD has overtaken Tesla in eleven major automotive markets, including key European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Ireland, as well as Asian markets like Malaysia, Turkey, Singapore, Thailand, and China. This expansion demonstrates BYD’s ability to compete effectively in diverse global markets.

Global Reach and Production Milestone

As of December 2025, BYD’s NEVs are sold in 119 countries and regions worldwide. The company recently celebrated producing its 15 millionth NEV, becoming the first automaker globally to reach this milestone.

Projected One Million Exports

Given BYD’s strong momentum, a conservative estimate of matching November’s export figures in December would push the total beyond one million vehicles for 2025. While Chery currently leads in total export numbers, the rapid growth of BYD’s NEV sales suggests that it could surpass Chery soon.

BYD’s trajectory proves it’s not just exporting vehicles but reshaping the global automotive landscape with its aggressive expansion in the electric vehicle sector.

This rapid growth is reshaping the automotive industry. BYD’s success underscores the growing demand for NEVs and its ability to capitalize on this trend, signaling a potential shift in global automotive dominance.
