Kosmera, a new automotive startup, is debuting two vehicles at CES — a sleek sedan and a high-performance hypercar. The latter, boasting up to 1,877 horsepower, has captured attention, but details suggest it may remain a showpiece rather than a production model.
Design and Performance Claims
The hypercar’s teaser images reveal design cues reminiscent of Alfa Romeo and Bugatti, featuring a bold grille, curvaceous bodywork, and a prominent rear spoiler. Kosmera claims the vehicle will blend “classic supercar heritage with next-generation technology,” offering a staggering 469 horsepower per wheel.
The company highlights a near 1:1 power-to-weight ratio and an advanced chassis constructed from aerospace-grade composites and 3D-printed metals for “exceptional torsional stiffness.” It also promises a revolutionary suspension system capable of shifting between a smooth ride and track-ready rigidity.
High-Tech Features
Kosmera’s hypercar includes an “AI Coach” designed to improve driver skill using augmented reality, displaying the optimal racing line on a heads-up display. A unique “dual-steering-wheel unlock mechanism” is also mentioned, though its function remains unclear.
Prototype Status and Production Concerns
Despite the ambitious claims, Kosmera clarifies that these vehicles are prototypes for static display only. There are no concrete plans for production or availability. Furthermore, the company’s trademark filings in China, under Xing Chen Future Automotive Technology Co Ltd, suggest the hypercar is unlikely to be sold in the US market.
While Kosmera’s hypercar showcases impressive engineering goals, its status as a show car raises doubts about real-world availability. The focus on design and technology, coupled with the company’s origins and trademark details, suggests this vehicle may never progress beyond the CES show floor.
