The 788HS Arrives

McLaren isn’t hiding the stats anymore. They put the exterior shots online. You can see it.

Raw Power

It starts with the V-8. McLaren boosted the output to 777 horsepower. That is 37 more ponies than the 750S. Torque sits at 590 lb-ft. Numbers don’t lie, really. Or they lie beautifully.

“In 2.8 seconds, you’ll hit 60 mph. Hit 124 in 7 seconds flat.”

Top speed? 205 mph. The weight claim is tight — 2789 lbs dry. Lighter. Faster. Obvious upgrades, sure, but the details matter.

Aerodynamic Shift

It’s not just engine work. The aero setup changed heavily. A new active rear wing sits higher. The diffuser? Borrowed straight from their F1 race programs. Learning by stealing? No. Learning by racing.

Air moves differently now. Up front, there’s a new S-duct carved into the hood. It pushes airflow right over the cabin roof, feeding that new wing. The splitter got a redesign too, cleaner but more aggressive.

One final note. This car marks the first time in the 720 lineage to actually see center-lock wheels. Looks matter, but these lock tight.

So yeah, you can drive it. Will you?
