Peugeot has invested heavily in the STLA Medium platform of the new E-5008. It was designed as a bold, spacious and truly family-friendly SUV. The manufacturing story here is distinctly French. Final assembly takes place at the Sochaux factory in the Doubs region. But the supply chain goes deeper. The electric motor leaves the production line in Trémery, Moselle. The batteries, on the other hand, come directly from the Gigafactory in Douvrin, Pas-de-Calais. This is more than just badge-engineered export. This is a local initiative.
Why E-5008 is important in electric families
This model is an important step in Peugeot’s transition to a 100% electric product line. The goal is simple. We meet all customer needs without emissions. The E-5008 is unique in its class. It is currently the only fully electric car that comfortably seats seven passengers. This is a big selling point for large families who are tired of range anxiety.
The interior is both comfortable and functional. Space is a priority here. Peugeot has achieved this by utilizing the 2.90-meter wheelbase of the STLA medium architecture. The long wheelbase maximizes the cabin space without making the vehicle unwieldy of the vehicle. The total length is kept under 4.79 meters. This makes it easier to manageable parking.
E-5008 is the only 7-seater SUV in its class that offers 100% electric mobility and a spacious interior.
Battery options and charging speeds
The Stellantis platform enables a flexible battery packaging. If you want maximum range, you can choose the larger 98 kWh battery. This version can travel up to 660 kilometers on a single charge. This figure is consistent with the WLTP test standard, which is the common benchmark for electric vehicles in Europe.
Entry-level buyers aren’t far behind. The basic model has a small battery. Nevertheless, the 500 kilometers of range. This is more than enough for your weekly commute or weekend getaway.
Fully supports fast charging. The E-5008 accepts up to 160 kW with compatible DC stations. This means you can charge it relatively quickly even on long journeys. The math works out are suitable for real-life use. You don’t have to wait for hours to continue driving.
Advantages of the platform
The STLA Medium platform does more than just hold batteries. It defines the dimensions of the vehicle. Placing the battery on the floor lowers the center of gravity. This may improve driving dynamics, but this will be confirmed in a road test. Thanks to packaging efficiency, the Peugeot can fit seven seats into a smaller space than some mid-size sedans.
This approach eliminates the compromises typical of seven-seater electric vehicles. It doesn’t sacrifice much in terms of cargo space or passenger comfort. The focus of design is always on practicality. The result is a vehicle that looks as good as it performs.
Peugeot has limited the range to two main trims: Allure and GT. It’s a streamlined lineup designed to break the typical SUV paralysis. You can also combine these with the three option packages or select them from the drivetrain menu if you don’t need the extra features.
The electric range are simple. Three motorizations. Two-wheel drive is available with either 210 or 230 horsepower. Equipped with four-wheel drive and Dual Motor, it produces 320 horsepower. It mirrors the e-3008 strategy. The same tiered approach. Same logic.
The E-5008 has a warranty of up to 8 years or 160,000 kilometers.
But even if you’re not into electrics, Peugeot isn’t completely ignoring the ICE crowd. There are two hybrid options. The mild hybrid version runs on a 48 V system. Capable of pushing 136 horses. Simple. Efficient. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s practical. Next up is the plug-in hybrid. It carries over the previous generation 5008, but with some differences. 195 horsepower.
Why stop here? Why not match the electric version? Peugeot says it doesn’t want plug-in hybrids cannibalizing electric car sales. Therefore, the plug-in is sits below the electric output. This is an intentional cap. It’s not a limit. It’s a strategy.
The warranty is where the numbers get interesting. 8 years. 160,000 km. That’s a long leash for the battery. Most competitors offer of 8 years or 100,000 km. Peugeot betting in longevity.
Sharper silhouette and aggressive aerodynamic design
The new Peugeot E-5008 sheds some of its bulkier past. Keeping the basic proportions of the 2024 model, it has been enhanced with a sleeker, more aerodynamic silhouette. The roofline tapers back, sitting lower than before and cutting through the air with less drag. It’s a subtle change, but it makes the SUV look more like a grand tourer than a utility vehicle.
The front panel has been completely redesigned. Peugeot has introduced a new light sign, the same digital panel as in the recent E-308 and E-208 models. It’s sharp. This is unique. And there’s no chrome trim that plagues many modern crossovers. Chrome extension? Gone. It is replaced by a matte black and gray panel. The movement was inspired by the minimalist trend pioneered by Tesla and the Model Y, which eliminated distracting shiny objects and let the shapes speak for themselves.
Wheels and badging updates
These geometric wheel designs are no longer just an afterthought. The E-5008 GT has 19-inch or 20-inch wheels with complex, angular pattern that look like they were created by some crazy CAD algorithm. Wrapped around it is the new Peugeot badging, which shows that this isn’t just a facelift. It’s a reinvention. The black accents on the wheels blend well with the body cladding, creating a cohesive, monochrome aesthetic that feels much more sophisticated than the specs suggest.
The Panoramic i-Cockpit® is a game changer
Inside, the dashboard is dominated by the new Panoramic i-Cockpit®. This is a huge 21-inch floating screen that covers almost the entire width of the dashboard. However, this is not a continuous display. It is divided into two distinct areas, and the genius lies in separating the two areas.
On the left side, directly above the steering wheel, is the instrument cluster. It’s up high and close to the driver’s field of vision, so you don’t have to look down to see speed or navigation instructions. This is pure driving information. Clean. Direct.
Passengers on the right side have their own touch interface. Yes, the passenger has a screen. No, this isn’t just about movies. This is where the connection happens. The system combines artificial intelligence features, specifically leveraging ChatGPT. It’s more than just clicking an icon. You’re talking to the car. This user interface enables advanced commands in addition to basic climate control and radio presets. It’s Peugeot’s experimental move to combine a physical cockpit with a digital assistant you can actually talk to.
“Integrating ChatGPT into the passenger display transforms the E-5008 from a static machine into a responsive environment.”
This is a bold step. Most manufacturers are still playing catch-up with voice assistants, but that misunderstand half your commands. Peugeot is betting that artificial intelligence will eventually bridge the gap between intent and action. Whether it feels natural or gimmicky depends on how often you use the passenger display while driving. But there’s no denying that the hardware is impressive. The 21-inch screen is crisp, responsive and positioned to reduce driver distraction by placing important information high up and where your eyes.
The aluminum trim covers the entire width of the dashboard and front doors and continues to the rear doors. Customizable LED ambient lighting is also included. The new Peugeot SUV retains its seven-seat configuration, but the second row now has a split bench instead of individual seats.
The trunk is huge. Five seats have about 750 liters of space. Even with the third row down, there is 259 liters of luggage space left.
